Biography

Spinto soprano Isabella Lundqvist was born in the northern parts of Sweden, in Piteå. She began her operatic studies in Härnösand and advanced from there to Gothenburg where she took her BA at the Academy of Music and Drama. Following year she moved to Stockholm where she studied the masters programme at the Royal College of Opera.

Her repertoire ranges from contemporary music to Mozart and the italian Verismo. During her studies she performed roles as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, Mimi in La Bohème and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. She has also premiered numerous contemporary operas as well as performed as soloist in oratories such as Brahm's Requiem, Händel's Messiah, Duruflé's Requiem, Schubert's Mass in G Major.

2019 she made her German debut at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater as Maddalena in Andrea Chénier.
